At Paper Dolls Interiors, we’ve sold thousands of throw pillows to happy clients in Bermuda Dunes, Cathedral City, Indian Wells, Indio, La Quinta, Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, and Thousand Palms. If you’ve ever searched for the right throw pillows for your décor, you know that it can be time-consuming (especially if you’re going at it alone). I’ve seen enough to know that it’s likely most folks will mess up their throw pillows. They can quickly become all uneven and morphed resembling some distant shadow of what they were.
Not anymore. Here are a few tips:
Filling Your Throw Pillows
In a nutshell, you’ll want to fill them with a good mix of feathers and down. The idea is to keep them about even, but if preferable, you can put in a few more feathers. But mind your allergies! Look for “down alternative” if it’s too taxing on the sinuses and whatnot. United Pillow will have what you seek but only refer to them for the alternative stuff. Otherwise, I recommend Cuddle Down for real stuff, but shoot us a message if you’ve had a good experience with anyone else!
Moving on, pack your pillow full of that filling. Bigger is better! Don’t be afraid to overstuff it. A rule of thumb for larger pillows is to go two inches larger on each side. For smaller pillows, let’s say around the sixteen or seventeen range, go one inch larger. Always go big if you feel you have to, but make sure you measure the pillows beforehand to get your size.
Throw Pillow Placement
As for placement, larger pillows are generally better for larger furniture. Trust your sense of décor to determine what size fits what and how many are optimal. Of course, you could always seek out the help of a profession (hint, hint) for throw pillow advice. If you are seeking simple ways to invigorate your décor, come visit us.
